About

We are volunteers with experience educating about death care. We provide information about funeral planning and end-of-life decisions so you can plan meaningful goodbyes that fit their needs and budgets. We help consumers learn about options for burial, cremation, body donation, and other choices.

  • We are not funeral directors; we are independent of the funeral industry.
  • We cannot provide funding, but do provide tips for saving money.
  • We offer helpful information resources relevant for Massachusetts residents.
  • We work to protect your right to choose meaningful, dignified, and affordable final arrangements.

This statewide website has been created by volunteers in Funeral Consumer Alliance organizations that have served Massachusetts for decades (1962-present). We started the statewide website in 2018; this expanded version is NEW, launching in September 2026.

This is a time of change. "Greener" options for final disposition are gaining popularity. We're actively learning about the development of these new options now offered in some other states. We will update this website as new options become available to Massachusetts residents.

We are affiliated with the national Funeral Consumers Alliance (FCA), which is also a helpful resource.

Volunteers welcome! We'd love to have additional help in educating the public, maintaining webpages, and helping this project continue. If interested, please contact us via the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Western Massachusetts.
